Sensory overload is something parents of autistic children know well. We frequently see our children react to an environment that has too much stimulation for our child’s nervous system to successfully process.

  2. The kid is not alone. Mom and dad are prone to overload from time to time, too. Definitely more than most parents.

    • I agree, RandyOrtiz2. Show me a parent of an autistic child, and I’ll show you someone who knows what the world “overwhelm” means! However, in this post I was commenting specifically on those on the spectrum who struggle with fragmentation and sensory integration, which can have a profound effect on their behavior and life.
